About Us

Bookyana is the leading organisation in South Australia to provide a wide range of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) services for Aboriginal People

Bookyana is Aboriginal owned and managed and strives on being culturally appropriate in its oversight and delivery of services to its Aboriginal NDIS, Department of Child Protection (DCP) and Exceptional Needs Unit (ENU) participants. Bookyana employs Aboriginal men and women from Senior Management, Administration and Support Worker positions and this ensures our Aboriginal participants are receiving the best possible cultural standard with Bookyana’s model of staffing.

Language

Bookyana prides itself on being able to access various Aboriginal languages to better deliver information to our participants, these include Pitjantjatjara, Narungga, Ngarrindjeri and Kaurna languages along with others

Programs

Bookyana holds itself high on being able to deliver Aboriginal run programs for our participants such as traditional cooking, hunting, Inma (singing and dancing), yarning circles and other cultural activities that participants would like to participate in

Health

Bookyana has access and contacts to Aboriginal community and government health organisation’s as well as Ngangkari’s (healers) that work together with our participants stakeholders to ensure cultural needs are met and delivered appropriately.

Return to Country and Reunification

Bookyana are proud to be able to connect to community and elders, and can facilitate and work with various communities to ensure our participants can link up with family and country in a culturally safe way.

We collaborate with other Aboriginal organisations to also ensure our participants needs are also best met through health, education, justice and other specialist services.

Bookyana works with participants, their families, carers, guardians, providers and/or support coordinators to assist in providing the best possible service, regularly collaborating with other Aboriginal Organisations to ensure our participants needs are best met through health, education, justice, and other specialist services. We ensure that our services are compliant and in line with the requirements of the NDIS Commission by providing necessary reports such as IRs, progress notes, ABCs, behaviour frequency and sleep charts where required.
